Welcome to issue #2 of our newsletter.  Each issue we’ll keep you posted with our favorite pieces, the latest arrivals and the newest designers from Australia and New Zealand. We’ll also bring you the scoop from interviews with fashion insiders and industry experts and to find out what’s on their shopping lists.

FEATURE - WInter blues be gone
Spring collections are now arriving weekly at Elizabeth Charles.  Brighten-up your winter mood with a primary color – the big trend of the season.  Cobalt blue, kelly green, and yellow are fresh, while also nice over black tights and boots right now!
Not ready yet for the bright colors of Spring?  How about grey – our favorite seasonless color – covering all shades of the spectrum from charcoal to steel to heather.  What’s new about grey are the unexpected incarnations – a jersey evening gown by Kirrily Johnston is chic, while the metallic-finish on Karen Walker’s cotton day dress is sporty.  Texture is another factor.  Flirt in the ethereal chiffon cocktail dress by Camilla and Marc, or enjoy the sophisticated contrasts of Anna Thomas’ linen and chiffon frock.

designer profile - Alice McCall
Alice McCall has been dubbed by British Vogue “best newcomer, prettiest collection and easily the most popular girl in the class”.    She’s bubbly, fun, talented and has that effortless, laid back, eclectic style.  Alice’s Spring collection combines cool grey with bright splashes and her long sleeve pieces are perrrrrfect for now!

INTERVIEW - Christopher Blomquist
Between puffs we caught up with Christopher Blomquist, North American Bureau Chief of Sportswear International (the leading glossy trade mag), at New Zealand fashion week.  Read below for fashion advice and to find out about the inner workings of this self-depreciating New Yorker who loves trashy auto-biographies, Zambesi, laughing and (until recently) cigarettes.  A self-confessed procrastinator and pack rat, his fashion motto on a really, really bad day is “Unless it will change the world entirely, I ain’t interested”.

The many faces of Blomquist

Rag and Bone jacket, 2xist henley, Topman yellow tee, H&M scalf, Rogan Pants, Swear shoes, yellow belt from a flee market in Florence

Richard...son T-shirt, H&M scarf, Celio jacket, Helmut Lang white belt, WESC jeans   Karen Walker sunglasses, Barneys New York private label gray overcoat , Celio pinstripe suit, Agnes B white dress shirt and Topman pink leather tie
